September 1st: Priority Testing for HSC Students

COVID-19 test results for HSC students will be prioritised by NSW Health to minimise any impact on HSC preparations.

When HSC students are getting tested, they need to advise the GP or testing clinic that they are currently doing their HSC so their test results can be prioritised.

For more information on this please visit the NSW Department of Education site here.

August 28th: COVID case at Ryde Secondary College

As directed by NSW Health all student from Ryde Secondary will be in self isolation while contact tracing takes place, after a teacher from the school tested positive for COVID. For more information on testing and isolation please read the advice from NSW Health:

August 20th: COVID Safe HSC +ATAR & Online ESPs

The safety of our students, staff, their families and the wider community remains our priority. With the increasing COVID-19 numbers in Sydney, we will be mandating the wearing of masks or other face covering (while students move in and out of Intuition). For those students who don’t bring their own mask, we will provide them with a disposable one.

The broad scientific consensus is that wearing a mask or face covering can help prevent the spread of the virus.

All staff and students will be wearing masks at all times*. As students enter school trials and approach this year’s HSC we hope this will provide a further safeguard to minimise disruptions and serve as a reminder that COVID is still with us.

For information on correctly using masks please refer to this guide from the WHO.

Reminder, if you are feeling sick, please get tested and isolate. We can organise online alternatives.

Thank you for your ongoing support as we work together to keep us all COVID safe! Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

*Note class teachers may not be wearing masks while teaching, but will be at all other times. If students have medical reasons for not wearing a mask please inform us and we will make exemptions.

July 31: Being COVID Safe

Our response to the recent situation highlights the effectiveness of our process. Within 20 minutes of being informed of the potential case, we closed and enacted our COVID Safe Plan. This included a deep clean which was completed within 4 hours of being notified.

Reinforcing some guidelines that we have been following (based on long standing NSW Health Guidelines) and would like to ensure we as a community follow:

  • If you or anyone member of your household is being tested then please isolate until the results are returned. Contact us and we can will organise online alternatives.
  • Please be weary of maintaining good hand hygiene. We have hand sanitisers throughout the building.
  • Masks are available by request from Student Services; we highly encourage their use.
  • Social distance and avoid being within 1.5m of people. Ensure you are seated at pre assigned seats.
  • Mingling inside during breaks and before and after class is discouraged.

Remember, if you have even the mildest symptoms get tested and isolate until you get your results.

For more information on testing and isolation please read the advice from NSW Health:

July 30 Update: Student Returns a NEGATIVE RESULT

May 13: COVID-19 Update

We're cautiously optimistic

As the situation in relation to COVID-19 continues to slowly improve we are actively planning on taking steps to gradually reintroduce (in phases) face-to-face tuition.

As an initial step, we are tentatively planning to reintroduce face-to-face extra tutorials and sitting examinations. This would be on a completely voluntary basis and commence in early June.

While this is a sign of positive progress, there is no immediate change to our approach. All tuition continues online, as scheduled. Our decision to continue online are guided by the safety and well-being of all staff, parents and students.

Enhanced cleaning and social distancing measures have already been implemented among staff onsite. These safeguards will become the new norm for the foreseeable future for all individuals coming to Intuition. We’ll continue to keep you informed ahead of any changes.

Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.

March 31: April Holidays and Term 2

With the ongoing need to manage the outbreak of COVID-19, we expect for Term 2 to continue completely online.

School Holidays

Over the upcoming school holidays, we will close from the 6th - 26th of April. However, Ask a Tutor and the online marking of homework/exams will still run throughout. In addition, you have access to our expanding online video library, the weekly resources and extra materials.

Term 2

In order to maintain the safety and well being of our staff we will be shifting away from live tutorials. Instead, we will be introducing live Q&A sessions for homeworks and topics. In the coming days, we will call you to organise your new permanent timetable consisting of one live class and one live Q&A session.

Complementary Revision Course

In addition to all the live components outlined below, current students who maintain their enrolment will be provided with a complimentary enrolment into both the July and October Comprehensive Revision Courses. With all the disruptions, we feel our students will need extra help, these revisions courses together represent 24 hours of extra tuition.

Online Learning

All Intuition students will have access to the following in the my-i online learning suite:

  • Live Classes: the aim is to replicate the face-to-face experience. With the aid of our online workbooks, the teacher and class tutor go through the lesson; students can ask questions through the class tutor on the live stream
  • Online marking of homework: We will mark homework & exams online. Students will be provided with information and comments on how they can improve; marks are recorded.
  • Live Q&A on Homeworks: The live Q&A’s run for 2 hours and go through the common homework issues, as well as a general Q&A’s on the respective topic. As part of this we will separate students into ‘breakout rooms’, to ensure students with similar questions can get the help they require.
  • Unlimited Access to Ask a Tutor: Students can ask both Intuition and school related questions at any time.
  • Videos on Topics: Short videos to help students consolidate knowledge; this library is expanding and more will be added throughout the coming weeks.
  • Access to Resources: We have enabled access to our resources through my-i. This will ensure students have access to everything they need to continue learning through videos.

For more information on these visit our Online Learning page. As mentioned, we'll be in contact shortly in regards to timetables. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

March 25: Update to Online Learning

Our first online classes started this week and the feedback has been very positive! We will improve and make them even better over time.

We are excited to introduce two new features to our online learning suite in my-i Online Marking and Live tutorials. This is in addition to Ask a Tutor, Online Videos and our Live Classes (for more information click here).

  • Online Marking: Students will be able to upload homework and exams for marking. Students can either scan or take pictures (as one single file please) and upload them into my-i. We’ll then be able to mark them and re-upload the marked work. For exams, as always, you will also have access to the detailed marking guidelines.
  • Live Tutorials: Students will gain access to a 45-minute session with a tutor to go through their work. It’s essential to prepare for your tutorials and have a set of questions ready. Tutors will help with working, guide you to the answers and help consolidate theory. These spaces will be limited and students need to call to book these. In order to take part in these tutorials you will need to agree to share audio and/or video with Intuition (note all tutors will be at our offices in Epping).

Remember, the quickest way to get assistance is via Ask a Tutor. We're here to support you with school and Intuition work.

If the lockdown is expanded, we will be unable to run tutorials as described above. In this situation, we will implement another feature we have ready to ensure students are still able to correct their homeworks and exams.

With the news from NESA that the HSC will run this year, the need for continuity of learning is vital to ensuring the success of students in this challenging time. Intuition is committed to providing you with ongoing support for your learning during this time. Remember you can keep updated with information on what Intuition is doing at this site.

Finally, our office hours have changed during this time. They are 2pm-8pm on weekdays and 9am-6pm on weekends, again these are subject to change. Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

March 23: Online Classes Commence

From today Intuition will be ONLINE only. Our first live classes start today, all students should be attending them as they would any normal class. Later this week, we’ll be launching our first live tutorials and enabling the submission of homework online.

As schools transition to online rest assured Intuition is ALREADY ONLINE and ready to provide support for all students.

We aim to provide continuity of education for all students, throughout the remainder of this term and will continue this as long as required. The NESA board will be meeting on Tuesday to provide more information about the HSC and the nature of the HSC this year. We will update you as soon as we find out.

We look forward to sending more information about our online tutorials and online marking in the coming days.

March 21: FAQs & Online Learning

As previously mentioned all face-to-face tutoring will be halted from Monday. Students have begun receiving their resource packs and have been booked into their online live classes. We will continue contacting all students over the weekend.

For more information on our online offerings please visit our Online Learning page. If you have more questions please visit our FAQs or contact us.

Finally we'd like to thank all our staff, students and parents during this time. We will continue to support all our students online through their assessments and as long as required. We're committed to ensuring students are still learning and improving during this difficult time.

19th March

Due to the growing risk of exposure to COVID-19, we are stopping all face-to-face tuition from Monday 23rd March until the end of the term. We have taken this decision as it is an essential step in ensuring the safety, health and well-being of students, staff and the wider Intuition family. We plan to resume all face-to-face tuition in term 2.

Our offices will remain open, but not for classes or tutorials. Instead, we are moving all teaching and learning online, which can be accessed through my-i. The following services will be available starting next week. Students services will be in contact will all students in the coming days to organise timetables for the remainder of the term.

  • Videos: Videos will provide support for exam reviews, revision and gaps in theory. These videos can be accessed through my-i and can be viewed anywhere at anytime. Over the coming days and weeks we'll be adding many more videos for a variety of topics. We'll also be taking requests for videos based on the questions that arise from Ask a Tutor.
  • Live Stream of Classes: Classes for theory will now move to live streams; these will be accessed through my-i and are powered by Zoom. These classes will involve teachers teaching a lesson and students having access to workbooks (picking them up or viewing an online version) and going through the lesson. Students will be able to ask questions and the teacher and class tutor team on the live stream will aim to deliver the best experience possible.
  • Online tutorials: Tutorials will be run as a two-on-one 45 min tutorial session accessed through my-i, and again powered by Zoom. These will be made available next week. While these can’t replace the full benefits of face to face learning, they should provide the necessary support in the coming weeks. These tutorials will aim to get more individualised help, while still using the Intuition teaching methodology of guided learning (Socratic method).
  • Ask-a-Tutor: As always, this is available at any time. We have increased the capacity so that questions can be answered ASAP. This increase will allow you to gain the assistance you need at all times in a timely manner. Students can take pictures of questions / working to help quickly convey the issues they are facing.
  • Access to our Resources: PDF resources will be accessible through my-i. Hard copies can be picked up at any time from Intuition. The upcoming exams for many subjects can also be picked up, and we encourage you to sit it under exam conditions. We encourage students to drop by Intuition and pick a pack of resources for the remainder of the term. These will be available from Friday 20th March.
  • Marking Homework: Homeworks and exams can be dropped into Intuition during our adjusted business hours to be marked. Once marked, you can pick them up and use them in online tutorials. All homework dropped off will be marked and recorded on my-i.

Rest assured, once things return to normal, we will provide the relevant catch-up tuition where required.

Given the disruptions to teaching and learning, we will also be issuing each student a credit for one July Comprehensive Revision Course during the July school holidays. Also, we will continue running extra online tutorials throughout the upcoming April school holidays.

For now, our focus is on providing the support our students need to continue their studies in preparation for the impending HSC school assessments. Given the majority of schools remain open and have not altered assessment policies, we want to focus on getting students the help they need.

We thank you for your trust and continued understanding during this difficult time. Please bear with us as these systems come online, there will inevitably be some teething issues that our team will work through and ensure we provide the best outcome for students during this time.

The situation remains complicated and is rapidly evolving. It reminds us that we are all part of a broader society with a responsibility to look out for one another. As the situation develops, we will keep you informed and aim to provide you with all the assistance we can during this challenging time. Please visit our website for up to date news and more information on online teaching and learning. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

16th March

Intuition remains open at present, as per the guidelines from NSW Health. We have put in place several distancing policies to maintain a safe environment. If you are feeling unwell, or anyone in your household is feeling unwell, we urge you to remain at home.

Commencing this week my-i will have videos for the HSC Chemistry and HSC Physics Half Yearly Exam Reviews. These will be available through the my-i website only at present (not the app). Videos on other lessons will also be released in the coming weeks. In addition, we encourage students who cannot attend to use Ask a Tutor.

In the coming days and weeks we'll be releasing more videos and launching live stream for classes and tutorials. More information on these new features will be provided in the coming weeks.

Should you have any questions or concerns please contact us.

11th March

Students from affected schools remain isolated and will be returning only two days after they return to school. To date NO Intuition student have been diagnosed with the virus. We are urging all students that may feel sick NOT to attend Intuition until they are feeling better, and if they have flu like systems to contact their doctors and NSW Health immediately. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will keep students and parents informed.

For more information about COVID-19 and its current spread, the following video from the ABC Health Reporter Dr. Norman Swan can be useful to better understand the current situation. You can find the video here.

9th March

It has been confirmed that two students from St Patrick's Marist College Dundas and one student from Willoughby Girls High have been diagnosed with COVID-19, resulting in the schools to close today and likely tomorrow. NONE of the confirmed students attend Intuition.

The few students we have from these schools, will not be attending Intuition until they have been given clearance from NSW Health and we have confirmed they are well. We are taking the extra precaution by ensuring siblings of students from the affected schools also not to attend Intuition during this time. Please note that NO student that has attended Intuition has been diagnosed with the virus.

We continue to monitor the situation closely and remain vigilant and as proactive as possible. We are planning to open extra during the April school holidays to assist students in catching-up and running extra classes/tutorials. We are also investigating methods to get remote help for students (online) should the situation warrant it. Students are still able to access support through Ask a Tutor on my-i.

If you have any concerns or would like further information please feel free to contact us.

8th March

NSW Health has isolated approximately 70 specific students (none of which attend Intuition) and staff from Epping Boys High School for a further 14 days. All other students will be returning to school on Monday. We have requested all Epping Boys Students that attend Intuition not to attend until Thursday 12th March to ensure any new information can be processed and acted upon without affecting them or other students. We want to ensure they are healthy and will be ensuring they are caught up on all the work they have missed.

We continue to monitor the situation as it evolves. Should you still not feel comfortable attending Intuition in the coming days please contact us. Rest assured we will be organising catch up sessions and are opening extra tutorials in the following week (students can book extra tutorials via the my-i app).

7th March

Intuition remains open and students are still able to attend as normal. If you feel uncomfortable attending please advise us and we will be able to organise catch up material and sessions in the coming weeks.

Also some useful links to obtain further information with regards to the Coronavirus are included below.

We continue to monitor the situation and will keep students and parents updated through our website.

6th March 2:00pm

We have been provided with extra information. The diagnosed student was NOT an Intuition student, nor has been on our premises. As per the guidelines all Epping Boys students are in self-isolation and won't be attending until NSW Health gives them the all clear. If the situation changes in the coming days we will keep you informed.

6th March 8:00am

As the current outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues, we’d like to take a moment to remind the Intuition community of some vital information.

With the recent news of an Epping Boys High School student being diagnosed with the virus we’ve asked all students from that school to self-quarantine today and over the weekend as per the current NSW Health directives. If the situation changes and there is an update, we’ll be keeping up to date with the changes and following the instructions of NSW Health.

If you wish to stay home during this time due to concerns about health, we understand this and would urge you to inform us. At Intuition, we will catch students up on any content missed and will also provide extra tutorials when you are ready to return. Students can also use my-i to ask questions to tutors to stay on top of work.

If you are at all feeling sick, even if you’ve not been in direct contact with anyone who may have been exposed to the virus, we urge you to stay at home and not come to Intuition. Please note we may ask you to travel back home if you are feeling sick to ensure the safety of the broader community.

If you have been in extended contact (over 15mins of direct face to face contact) with people who have recently returned from China, Hong Kong, South Korea, Iran or Italy, we request that you stay at home and self-isolate.

Our premises are continually being wiped down with antiseptic wipes, and there are hand sanitizers in the building, and we urge students to use these regularly.

We continue to monitor the situation, and if the government recommends any changes or new action, we will enact these immediately. Given the speed at which the situation is changing we urge you to look for updated information on our website: or further updates via email.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

3rd February

With the commencement of the school term, we at Intuition would like to address some concerns regarding the current outbreak of the coronavirus in China.

We urge any students that have recently returned from the affected area of China or have been in close contact with people that have travelled to the area, to not attend Intuition for two weeks from the time of contact. This is directly in line with the guidelines set out by the NSW Department of Health. Although the risk of infection is very low, we are being proactive and addressing hygiene processes and ensuring that people coming back from the area are self-quarantining as per the guidelines. For more information on these, please visit the NSW Department’s website here.

At Intuition, we’ve had a long-standing hygiene and safety practice in place. Disinfecting everything, cleaning desks regularly and providing hand sanitizers has been ongoing for many years. These procedures are always in place to look after staff and students. As always, we have flexible class times and tutorial times, so if your child is sick we urge you not to attend and we’ll be able to organise a catch-up session.

If you have any questions in regard to this matter, please feel free to contact us.
