News and Updates

September 7th: Updates from Intu

We know that the recent changes to the HSC have been tough. Please remember that we’re here to help and would like to clarify & highlight what's happening at intu in the coming months:

  • Extra Tutorials, Supervised Study Sessions & Ask-a-Tutor continue throughout until your HSC is over. Don’t worry we’ll provide all the regular Intu support at no extra cost.
  • The amended ESP schedule (from the 2nd Aug, see below) still holds for Class Reviews and sitting Exams. You can view that schedule here
  • For those that prefer, there is the possibility to move sitting exams (not reviews) back one or two weeks. Contact SS for more information.
  • Remember that our October Revision Courses are coming up. They’re a great way to power through hundreds of questions, revising the entire syllabus in just 3 days, 4 hours per day, for more information or to book click here.

Now is the time to persevere, Don’t procrastinate, get ready now and stay ready by revising. It’s easier said than done but try to steer clear of leaving things to the last minute. The work you put in now will pay off in spades during the HSC.

Finally, RU OK Day is this Thursday, we want you to ask yourself and those around you that question. We are here to help and support you. We also encourage you to attend Supervised Study Sessions as they’re a good way to get help and some structured study, whilst connecting with others. Give us a call even if it’s just to have a chat. Look out for each other and your families.

If you have any questions or needs some advice please let us know, and remember to get vaccinated!

August 27th: Delay in HSC and return to face to face for schools

Today the NSW Government announced a roadmap for a return to face to face learning for schools as well as a delay in the HSC.

  • Students will return in a staggered way from October 25th 2021, with a priority given to Year 12s.
  • From Nov 1, Year 11s will be allowed to start face to face learning.
  • The HSC has been moved back to Nov 9th 2021. Importantly the HSC will be going ahead. All students will be able to get their ATAR and their university entrance will NOT be affected.

For our Intuition plan we would like to confirm the following:

  • Our ESP program will continue as per our amended schedule (which you can find here). Students will be able to access extra tutorials and supervised study sessions (at no extra cost) till the end of the HSC*.
  • Our Term 4 courses will begin online with an aim to return face to face learning from Nov 8th 2021.

* This now brings the free extra weeks of tutoring to 5 weeks.

Our return to face to face will be in line with our strong (and long-standing) COVID safe plan, which includes:

  • Mandatory masks while at Intuition;
  • Regular cleaning of surfaces;
  • Social distancing within all classrooms;
  • Hand sanitiser stations throughout the building;
  • High flow air conditioning ventilation, to ensure fresh air is constantly brought into the building;
  • Online alternatives for students, there is no need to attend if feeling unwell.

We plan for all our staff to be fully vaccinated and will be encouraging students to do the same before returning to face to face learning.

We encourage all of the wider Intu family to get vaccinated as soon as possible. Please keep well and keep yourself and those around you safe.

If you have any questions not addressed here please don’t hesitate to contact us.

August 25th: Update

With the extension of the lockdown for the remainder of September Intuition will continue online. Remember our online courses aren't simply just videos to watch but include our live interactive classes, live tutorials and our supervised (proctored) exams. We have continued to receive great feedback from our students about the online experience.

In addition, we can confirm our October Comprehensive Revision Courses (OCRCs) will be held online. We also will only be providing questions in a digital format.

For those in Year 10 or 11, we have also commenced our early enrolment period for Term 4, 2021 and 2022. Click here for more information.

August 2nd: Updates for Term 3 and ESPs

We hope that you and your family are staying safe. We'd like to provide you an update on our plan for the coming term for both our Year 12 ESP students and our Year 10 & 11 Students.

Year 12 ESP Update

The HSC is still on and is a vital part of your final marks and ATAR. The fact that it has been delayed a week, gives us the opportunity to also move our ESP program back one week, providing more time for revision and preparation.

Given most schools' trials are also moving back, we've amended our schedules to better suit our students. This means we’ll be offering more weeks of extra tutes, online study sessions and Ask a Tutor. The update will ensure students get an extra week and help all the way up to the HSC. There will also be no extra charges for these extras.

The image below outlines the NEW look schedule. In the coming days these changes will be reflected in my-i. We know that there may be further changes with school trials, rest assured we will continue to do whatever we can to support you.

You will also be able to move your timetable to suit your personal needs via the my-i app or through the website. If you need help or guidance in organising your timetable please get in contact with us. Our online study sessions will also be running throughout the flexi weeks and tutorials will run as normal.

Stay safe and remember we’re here to help. We really encourage you to take advantage of our online study sessions and use a study plan.

Year 10 and 11 Term 3 Update

In light of the recent extension, we plan to remain online for the remainder of Term 3. This includes the upcoming Intuition Exams.

We plan to resume in-person learning in the October school holidays and Term 4.

Extra Help

The recent circumstances have only reinforced how vital it is to form strong foundations in Year 10 and 11. We really encourage you to take advantage of our extra online study sessions, extra tutorials and Ask-A-Tutor.

Early Enrolment - Term 4 2021 & 2022

In the coming weeks we’ll be starting our early enrolment period for Term 4, 2021 and 2022. More information on this will be sent shortly so keep an eye out for it. Please continue to look out for each other and remember we’re here to help. If you have any questions not addressed here please don’t hesitate to contact us.

July 14th: Lockdown Extension - Intu Online

The current circumstances in Greater Sydney are worrying for all of us, but as a community we will undoubtedly get through it.

We know that the HSC is still on, so are school trials, and yearlys.

The extended lockdown has meant that we’ll continue to run online for the coming weeks. We can all acknowledge that the rapid adjustment to online learning can be frustrating and we know nothing can truly replicate face to face. Our online courses deliver as close to a face to face experience as possible.

We are happy to announce even more ways for you to get extra help:

Increased access to online tutorials

We’ve greatly increased the number of online tutorials. Students can login to my-i and book them now. We’re also opening new time slots for more extra tutorials in the morning and evenings.

In addition, we’re streamlining the way to share your working with tutors via the my-i app. The new SHARE feature makes it easier to get help and learn from your mistakes (feature coming soon to Android and iOS via the my-i app).

Supervised Study Sessions

Students can book into online study sessions where our tutors and teachers will monitor and help them study in a conducive environment. We highly recommend that students make use of the Intu Study Plan in these sessions. This is a great way to still feel connected to your wider support network, establish structure, mix things up a little & help to keep motivated. These will be available to book via my-i soon.

Ask a Tutor

Our Ask a Tutor service will be running as per normal. Over the recent school holidays 100s of questions were answered daily by our team of tutors. Remember you can access this at all times, we’ve increased capacity to get your questions answered quicker!

Online Learning Tips

To get the most out of online learning at Intuition and School it’s important you follow some simple guidelines

  • Study Space - Have a dedicated quiet area where you can sit and study. It should be a place where you only study.
  • Zoom, microphone & camera - Have the latest version of Zoom installed on your device and ensure your camera and microphone is working. Being able to see and hear each other is a major way that you will be able to get more from Online Learning.
  • Study Plans - As mentioned before the Intu Study Plan is a great way to keep motivated and focused on the tasks at hand.
  • Healthy Lifestyle - Make sure you are drinking lots of water, eating well and sleeping. It’s easy to get into bad habits but the routine of good sleep and a healthy lifestyle is critical in getting through this lockdown.

Be sure you also follow us on social media to get updates and some posts to stay motivated!

Resources

Resources for all classes have been made available online. We appreciate that many of you prefer hard copies but given the current health orders we’re unable to organise any pick up or delivery. Once restrictions are eased we will be able to offer contactless pickup of material.

Finally, we want to remind you that there is help available if you need to talk or need support. Kids Helpline is always available and is a place that you can go to for private, confidential help.

Please stay safe and if you have any questions feel free to contact us. our offices will remain open during this time.

July 7th: Updates due to Lockdown Extension

We hope that you have been keeping safe during the current lockdown. With today’s extension to the lockdown, we’d like to provide you with a quick update of the plan for the next few weeks.

Intu Week 27 (Term 3 Week 1 - 12th to 18th July)

All classes, exams, and tutorials will be moved to online events for the entire week (including the weekend). Online events are accessed and joined via my-i. Homework and exam attempts are submitted online and will be marked and returned online.

We will provide an update midway through the week (Wed 14th July) if there are any changes to plans for the weekend.

Intu Week 28 onwards (Term 3 Week 2 onwards, 19th July - onwards)

On the assumption that the lockdown ends, everything will return to face to face as per normal. However, we’ll continue to offer online alternatives for classes, exams and tutorials for those that currently prefer it. You are also welcome to attend some events face to face and others online. We want to provide you with as much flexibility and options as possible.

Study Planner

We know it can be hard to find the motivation and best techniques to study. To help you now and throughout the year, have a read of our detailed blog post on the best study techniques. You will also find our very own Intu Study Plan to help get you started. Click the link and download the study plan.

Remember, we are here to help. Ask aTutor is always available and you can always submit your homeworks online for marking. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. Keep safe during these difficult times and remember to get tested if you have even the mildest of symptoms.

June 30th: ESPs During Lockdown

We hope that you’re all keeping safe during the current lockdown. If last year was any indication, trials and HSC are still going ahead and the ESPs are the best way to prepare.

So let’s run through how we’ll be running ESPs in the coming weeks.

Week 26 (Mon 5th July - Sun 11th July)

Exams for this week will be done online. Our online exam supervisors maintain a secure, proctored* support structure for each exam. Students will need to access the exam via my-i and Zoom. Once students log onto my-i gain access to a Zoom meeting and timed access to the exam paper. This access will only be active for the duration of the exam.

At the conclusion of the exam, students will upload their answer sheets. This will be done via my-i. You’ll need to upload the exam within 10 mins of the exam finishing. Once uploaded you’ll get a confirmation in my-i, it’s important to keep your original hard copy paper.

Due to the many requests we’ve received, in the coming days we’ll be opening EXTRA ONLINE tutorials for this week.

*Proctored exams are supervised exams where we have a dedicated supervisor to monitor the exam and ensure it is done in a secure, honest and effective manner.

Week 27 onwards (Start of School Term 3 - Mon 12th July to Sun 18th July)

Intuition will return to face to face teaching from Monday the 12th of July on the basis that the NSW Health orders allow us to do so. This will mean we’ll return to face to face reviews for ESPs and exams being sat in person at Intuition. As always, we’ll be offering online alternatives for those that would prefer to be online.

If the lockdown is extended Intuition will remain online for exams, reviews and tutorials.

We’re here to help and support you. Please remember to use Ask-a-Tutor, we've rostered more tutors to increase capacity! If you’ve never used it, then give it a go.

Stay safe and as always contact us if you need anything. To keep update to date be sure to follow us on social media.

June 26th: We're still open and teaching online

With the newly announced restrictions from NSW Health, Intuition will be shifting everything online for the duration of the lock down.

Tutorials for Sunday the 26th June will be rescheduled. Over the coming days, we’ll contact you to organise your new times.

We are open and teaching online for the lockdown. Below, there’s more details about our upcoming July Comprehensive Revision Courses (JCRC) and Exam Success Program (ESP). Our offices and phones will remain open during this time. To stay up-to-date with the latest information visit our website intu.com.au/covid or Facebook.

July Comprehensive Revision Course (JCRC)

Our upcoming July Comprehensive Revision Courses (JCRCs) have been moved online.

We will be contacting you over the coming days to confirm you know how to log in. The material for the revision courses will be made available online. Additionally, hardcopy packs can be picked up from our offices.

For those of you who are yet to experience our Online classes, you’ll still find them highly interactive and engaging, not simply recordings. A teacher and a moderator (like a class tutor) are both teaching the lesson live, stopping and starting  for questions/discussion, ensuring students aren’t left to fend for themselves.

Over the past year we’ve worked tirelessly to deliver the best possible online experience and although nothing can quite replicate our face to face tuition, we are confident that under the current climate this is the best online learning  experience possible.

Exam Success Porgram (ESP)

The first week of exam sitting will be going ahead online. They will still be sat under exam conditions and supervised online.

In the coming days we’ll be providing a detailed update for everyone enrolled into ESP’s.

Please stay safe and if you have any questions feel free to contact us. our offices will remain open during this time.

March 26th: Update to our COVID Safe Plan

As the vaccine roll out has started and restrictions are easing in New South Wales we like to update the Intuition community about changes to our COVID Safe Plan.

  • In line with updates across the state, masks will be optional at Intuition from Saturday 27th March 2021.
  • Social distancing will continue in classes, tutorials, and exam rooms.
  • Hand sanitizers are located throughout the building and freely available for all as per normal.
  • Regular cleaning and sanitization of surfaces throughout the day will continue as well as a nightly deep clean.
  • We will continue to maintain strict digital contact tracing.
  • Our Air Conditioning system will continue to ensure fresh air is brought in a air is not circulated throughout the building.

These changes go far beyond the NSW Health Guidelines and we are waiting more than 2 months after the mask mandate was removed for vensues such as ours.

As always if students are feeling unwell we encourage them to move classes or tutorials online. This ensures they will never miss anything!

Should you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

January 29th: Intuition and our COVID Safe Plan

As the school term has started we wanted to reassure students, parents and the wider community about our long standing and successful COVID Safe Plan.

  • Everyone at Intuition is required to wear a mask at all times. If you don't have a mask one will be provided.
  • Socially distanced seating in all rooms and study areas.
  • Hand sanitizers are located throughout the building and freely available for all.
  • Regular cleaning and sanitization of surfaces throughout the day as well as deep cleans nightly.
  • Digital contact tracing of all people that enter Intuition.

In addition to our standard procedures outlined above our new building features specialised HEPA filters and continuous air circulation. This ensures that air is not recycled but rather fresh air is brought into the building. This has been shown to be a much safer method of air conditioning.

Should you have any questions please feel free to contact us.
